Ilya Marfin became the winner of the Young Composers Competition

The jury considered his quintet for piano, two violins, viola and cello the best. The second prize was awarded to Kirill Arkhipov for the Work of Time piano trio.

Ilya Marfin won the first prize at the VI International Young Composers Competition within the XIII International Winter Arts Festival under the artistic direction of Yuri Bashmet, People’s Artist of the USSR.

The second prize went to Kirill Arkhipov for the Work of Time piano trio. The third prize was shared by Khao Dinh Thang from Vietnam for the Time Line piano quartet and Vera Petrova from Russia for the piano quartet.

The winners of the awards were announced based on the results of the second, in-person round of the competition, which took place in the Organ Hall of Sochi. The works of the contestants were performed by musicians of the “New Russia” Orchestra Kirill Kravtsov and Mikhail Feikhman (violin), Andrei Usov (viola), Alexander Lunegov (cello), Oleg Khudyakov (piano).
