The Festival took place from 16th to 25th of February.
About 13 thousand people attended concerts of the Yuri Bashmet Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi. The executive director of the festival Dmitry Grinchenko announced it at the closing press conference, answering the TASS question.
According to him, fees from ticket sales play “a huge role in the formation of the festival’s budget”.
“Within the framework of the festival, a huge number of complimentary events take place”.
“All schools – the Music Academy, the Photo School, the Video Art School, and the Poetry School are absolutely free for those who take part”, – he said.
The XI Winter International Arts Festival under the direction of Yuri Bashmet, People’s Artist of the USSR, was held in Sochi from 16 to 25 February.
The program was rich in premieres, including the overture by Alexei Syumak to William Shakespeare’s “King Lear”, the symphonic play by the American Alvin Singleton, “Journey through the Orchestra” by the Moscow composer Kuzma Bodrov, Valery Voronov (Germany) alto concert and “The Queen of Spades” in the author’s version of Yuri Bashmet (director – Pavel Safonov).
